  • National bank plan approved
    • He used the elastic clause to help him build the bank because that would help collect taxes
  • Capital moved to between Maryland and Virginia
  • Hamilton viewed the country to be more important than any individual state
Federalists
  • believe country should be ruled by "Best People" (wealthy, educated, and public-spirited men)
  • sided with Britain in Britain vs.France war because we envied Britain
  • believed most people were basically selfish and out for themselves
  • believed the ideal economy was based on business, manufacturing, and trade
  • believed the nation needed a national bank to collect taxes, print money, and make loans to build factories and ships
